Mr. Renchen's 6th grade Music Appreciation class had the opportunity to video chat with GCMS alum Alex Duquette (Class of 2012) regarding music composition. The students are working on creating their own music compositions and gathered insight from Alex on how to go about creating melodies from scratch and how to refine their creations. The students enjoyed meeting a fellow GCMS student who was in the very same classroom not too long ago! Alex currently resides in Memphis, TN and is a freelance composer and musician. He hosts a weekly YouTube livestream in which he improvises music based on suggestions by his audience. He also recently recorded an album (Songs from Sangamon Street) that pays homage to his hometown of Gibson City, wherein each song tells the story of a fictional character that lives on Sangamon Street. Good luck to our middle school wrestling team and the 7th grade volleyball team! They both begin regional play Saturday morning. Our wrestling team is currently 27-0. They are the first undefeated team in school history. They will be in LeRoy Saturday morning. Matches start at 9:00 AM. Our 7th grade volleyball team is currently 18-2. They will play at 11:30 AM here at the middle school. We are Falcon Proud!
GCMS Elementary will host Grandparent/Special Visitor days March 13-17! The schedule will be:
13= 1st grade (11:20-11:50 lunch and then 45-60 min. activity)
14= 2nd grade (11:50-12:20 lunch and then 45-60 min. activity)
15= 3rd grade (11:50-12:20 lunch and then 45-60 min. activity) and Kindergarten (activity beginning at 2:00)
16= 4th grade (12:20-12:50 lunch and then 45-60 min. activity)
17= 5th grade (12:20-12:50 lunch and then 45-60 min. activity)

Tomorrow's (Saturday) girls regional basketball game vs. Bismarck-Henning will start at 11 AM at the high school . Admission to game is $5 for everyone, including senior citizens and students. The prices for admission are set by the IHSA. We hope to have a large crowd tomorrow to cheer on our Lady Falcons!

GCMS Middle School celebrated our Fantastic Falcons award winners today. This award is given by staff members to students who go above and beyond in displaying our school-wide expectations. We are Falcon Proud!
The JV Girls Basketball game on Monday will be two 10 minute running clock halves beginning at 5:30 PM. Senior Night celebration will start following the JV game. We estimate Senior Night celebration will begin at 6 PM.

Parents of eighth grade students are encouraged to attend an informational meeting at GCMS High School commons on Wednesday, Feb 1st at 6:30pm. Parents will be provided information about GCMS High School graduation requirements, career pathways, course descriptions, and the high school registration process that their child will be a part of during the next four years.
This is also a great opportunity to ask questions about GCMS High School and the courses and programs offered here.
