GCMS Families and Fans,
We could not be more excited about the opportunity for our students to engage in extra-curricular activities starting this week! We all recognize the great value our students get from being a part of a team or organization. Huge thanks go out to Mark Berry, Middle School AD, and Mike Allen, High School AD, for working with the IESA and IHSA, and the Twin County and Heart of Illinois Conferences to create a schedule and parameters to make this happen. We recognize that not all circumstances are ideal, but ask you to please recognize that we are working within our means to provide ONE ESSENTIAL ELEMENT, and that is opportunities for our kids.
GCMS Middle School will not allow any fans in attendance for any sporting events that are held indoors for the 2021 spring seasons. With the COVID-19 guidelines put in place by the IDPH and IESA, we are unable to safely allow the 50 person maximum attendance. This is a practice being followed by the entire Twin County Conference for Middle School / Junior High indoor activities.
We will be providing fans the opportunity to live stream our home games through our district YouTube page. A link for that page will be shared with everyone later this week. All Twin County Conference teams are providing a streaming option and those links will be shared when they become available.
GCMS High School will allow up to 50 spectators at our Home JV/Varsity indoor contests. No GCMS spectators will be allowed at away contests. Senior athletes will be given priority and tickets will be distributed directly through our athletes. Anyone interested in viewing the ball games may watch on the NFHS Network for a small monthly fee. Details on how to view on the NFHS Network will be released later this week. All fan “tickets” will be distributed to the athletes to share with their desired guests.
Please stay tuned for further details regarding outdoor events as they get closer and regional and State circumstances are made clearer. The opportunity for our kids to engage in activities and events is incredibly exciting and will surely come with new challenges, but we will tackle them all as best we can to provide these essential outlets for our students!
