GCMS Communication

GCMS Families, as we move into the new school year we would like to provide some guidance on how we will communicate. Our primary goal is to provide consistent communication so staff, students, their families, and the community know how to stay informed. Here is an overview of the platforms we are using.

Mass Communication

GCMS will send text messages to all guardians for school closings, early dismissals, and other school or district wide announcements. Mass emails will also be used for longer messages.

Contact willis.walker@gcmsk12.org if you are not receiving messages.

Staff - Student communication

Students in grades 4-12 can use GCMS Gmail to communicate with their teachers and coaches. Students in the Middle School and High School especially should learn to check their Gmail regularly.

Staff - Family Communication

Individual Classes, Teams, and Clubs will all use the Remind App. This is the first point of contact for group specific communications.

Social Media

Announcements and information about fun things happening in our schools will be shared on Facebook, X (Twitter), and Instagram. We also have a YouTube Channel that features events and original creations from our school district. We primarily view social media as a way to celebrate the great things happening in our schools. The algorithms on these social media sites are not reliable, so we do not consider social media our primary mode of contact.

We hope you find this helpful. If you have any questions about any of our digital platforms please feel free to contact Mr. Willis at willis.walker@gcmsk12.org. We look forward to a great school year!
