East Central Illinois Area Health Education Center (AHEC) is starting a career-specific Exploring post/club by matching their people and organizational resources to the career interests of local youth in the community. Health Care Exploring is based on a unique and dynamic relationship between youth and their community hospital. The result is a program of interactive activities that helps youth pursue their special interests, grow, and develop.
Exploring is designed to give youth the training and direction they need to perform a job or duty later in their life. They can participate in much of the same training that is already being conducted at Gibson Area Hospital. Once a month, their training and leadership experience will give them a great insight into your medical education when they review the future possibilities. Gibson Area Hospital will share with Explorers the many options of medical careers and provide experiences to learn through tours and discussions with medical personnel. Activity meetings will be 75 minutes in length.
